This is a fabulous multiple crinoid collected from the famous
Crawfordsville crinoid beds in central Indiana. The larger crinoid
crown is beautifully pinnulated. The attached stem proceeds about 10 mm
before terminating off the edge of the matrix. The smaller crinoid is
quite nice, but lacks a stem and the tips of the arms are missing as
they emerge from the edge of the matrix.
The gastropod is coated with
calcitic trace fossils. Also on the matrix are other crinoid stems,
and there are many crinoid stems running through the middle of the
matrix.
This is a beautiful fossil!
This specimen was professionally prepared by Marc Behrendt and has no
restoration to the bug or matrix.
